Welcome to Module 3!

Have you ever heard about the concept of Ocean literacy?

Watch this introductive video developed by Sea Change project (Links to an external site.) to get familiar with Ocean literacy!

Ocean literacy means:
"understanding the ocean influence on you and your influence on the ocean" (Cava, 2005)

Ocean literacy does not refer only to education, but it also aims at engaging people in acting on behalf of the ocean. Ocean literacy is an essential tool to provide knowledge in the framework of Blue Growth, which is the long-term strategy to support sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors.

Blue growth strategy is included in European Horizon 2020 program, and at the global level, it is included as one of the goals by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all member states in 2015.
